Dear ENMR-friends and Mining Regions of Europe!

The “Bergskraft Bergslagen”-project (www.bergskraft.se) is active in the Bergslagen mining region in south Central Sweden and was an associate member of the European Network of Mining Regions ENMR (European Network of Mining Regions) project during 2006 and 2007.

In our opinion, the ENMR project was a successful project and we had hoped it would continue. As many of you know, this was not the case. We do know that there were several organisations that would have liked to participate in a continuation of the ENMR.

Therefore, the municipality of Ljusnarsberg and the “Bergskraft Bergslagen”-project are proud to host the ENMR homepage and hope that reopening the homepage will contribute to increased awareness of the importance of the mining Regions of Europe and that the ENMR network once again will come to life.

The European Network of Mining Regions (ENMR) Interreg IIIC project was a two-and-a-half year (2005-2007) cooperative effort with the goal of forming a European partnership consisting of regional public bodies. It included representatives from the local authorities, the industry, universities, trade unions, non-governmental organisations and R&D institutions, all working together to collate an interregional and cross-sector stance on mining and regional sustainability. The principle goal was to complete a roadmap for the European mining regions.
