The European Network of Mining Regions will hold its forth European Workshop – Post-mining Regeneration Through Tourism - 26-29 June 2006 in Cornwall, UK.  This workshop is open to ENMR partner organizations and registered ENMR associate members and other invited guests. There will be a limited number of seats available to the public.

Venue: Cornish Claylands

  • A visit to various Cornish clay mining operations including an active mine, processing facilities and transportation infrastructure

 

 

Objectives of the workshop

  • Discuss the use of mining landscapes and related infrastructure in the delivery of new tourism opportunities;
  • Visit real working examples on the ground and hear from the key practitioners in the county;
  • Convene organisations from the key European mining regions to identify common areas of interest and to share experiences

Expected outcomes from the workshop

  • Provide a European audience of predominantly local authorities in key mining regions with an insight of the practicalities and realities surrounding mining and tourism projects.
  • Provide a clearer understanding of the issues surrounding success and failure of mining and tourism projects and identification of what needs to be done to improve success rates.
  • Stimulate potential new follow on EU projects to investigate in more detail tourism and mining opportunities among the mining regions of Europe

 

Workshop Registration

Registration is required for this event due to limited space.

  • ENMR partners are limited to two seats each during the first registration period. ENMR partners are eligible to use their Component 2 travel and accommodation budgets for travel and hotels expenses.
  • Six seats are available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference given to ENMR Associate Members for the first seat requested during the first registration period.

    Note:  ENMR Associate Members and public workshop participants will be required to pay for their own travel and hotel expenses.
  • DEADLINES FOR REGISTRATION: 
    • The first workshop registration period will close 29 May 2006 at 5:00pm, CET. All seats not filled as of this date will be made available to ENMR partners, ENMR Associate Partners and the public on an equal and first-come, first-served basis.
    • Final workshop registration will close 13 June 2006, or when seats are no longer available.
