The European Network of Mining Regions held its fifth European Workshop – Towards a Roadmap for European Mining Regions - 27 November 2006 in Brussels, Belgium. This workshop was open to invited guests of the European Network of Mining Regions and included members of European Parliament, members of European Committees, European Commission representatives, national, regional and local authorities from European mining regions and nations, industry associations and company representatives, university representatives and industry press.

Programme Summary
During the meeting, the European Network of Mining Regions provided:

A summary of ecommendations from the ENMR's Towards a Roadmap for European Mining Regions which include:
- the continuation of the European Network of Mining Regions as a regional platform for European Mining Regions to much more effectively reach and influence the Brussels community
- increased EU focuses on environmental management, social and economic development and industry development
Recommendations to further increase the security of European raw materials supply.
